When 'Samoothiri' won victory over this kingdom and added Kollamkodu to his kingdom, the temple was forfended .

In this temple 'Sastha' resides with 'Poorna' and 'Pushkala'. The 'Sreekovil' has no roof. Lord 'Vinayaka' and 'Bhagavathy' are the sub deities here. This temple is also known as 'Cherakulangarakkavu'. The temple situates on the west side of a pool ,and the deity faces to the east side.

Important Festivals

'Pattu'(song) and 'vilakku'(lamp) in the season of 'Mandalam' has more importance. Early when the temple was under the control of 'Kollankodu' king , grand celebration of festival was there in this temple. Now 'Arattu' is celebrated on the last week of malayalam month 'Dhanu'. That day should be the birtday of Lord Ayyappa and never that of the king's.
