The presiding deity of this temple is lord ayyappa. The temple was created by 'Perisseri
Pilla',who was a member of 'Puthanveedu'. He had done this for the happiness of
his mother who was an intense devotee of Lord Ayyappa. This temple was comparatively
smaller than the 'Erumeli' temple. So it has got the name 'Kochambalam' (Small Temple).
The temple is also known as 'Pulipidi kavu'.
