According to legends, the antiquity of this temple dates back 3,000 years. The temple has been the host of the most ancient and well-known yearly Devamela a festival when all gods and goddesses assemble at Arattupuzha.

Famous "AARATTUPUZHA POORAM" is held in the day of pooram in Meenam month of every year. It is the festival where thousands of god/godesses are assembled together. Thriprayattappan with Urakkathamma & Cherpu Bhagavathy comes for this festival with the guidence of Sasthavu. One of the speciality of this festival is, it accomodates more than hundreds of elephants.
