The presiding deity here is Sree Durga Devi. Temple is installed by Parasurama (incarnation of Maha vishnu). This is one amongst 108 durga temples in kerala. This is the one of the temple which got damaged during Tippu Sultan’s invading army in 1785. Temple was totally damaged and unnoticed for several years. Current situation of temple is much better and devotees around the place helped for re-constructing this temple.

Sri Durga Devi Temple, Vengoor is the first temple built by Lord Parshuram. He built 108 Durga Temples throughout Kerala, Vengoor Devi is considered as the eldest sister among all.

Traditionally, a chain of nine days festival is conducted at all these 108 temples and is known as POORAM. This chain of festival starts from Vengoor Temple followed by Manikyamangalam, Chengal, Edadu, Avanamcode, Nayathodu, Ezhipuram, Arattupuzha and finally at Thrissur (which is a grant ceremony). At Vengoor temple thousand of devotees are visiting for blessings.
