Festival:

Annual festival or vela is celebrated in grand scale which falls on the 2nd Sunday after Vishu (in April). It is considered as Malayalam new year.

One week celebration is conducted prior to main festival. On the first Sunday after vishu the Kodiyattum (Flag raising) ceremony is performed.

On monday Kari-Kali dance is performed, wherein members of the Nair community visit all the hindu homes in the local area and dance and sing devotional songs of mangorrukavu bhagavathy.

On tuesday Chamanz-Kali follows. Here too members of the Nair community sing devotional songs visiting each hindu home in the local area.

Wednesday there is Kumati festival. Chakiyaar koothu, Paava Koothu are performed during these days.
