The Temple belongs to Mannarkkad Nair Veedu(Kunnathu Madampu Swaroopam),who were the Samanthas of Valluvanad Raja.The presiding Deity of the Temple is Thirumandhamkunnu Bhagavathi.The old Daru vigraha is replaced by sila vigraha a decade ago.The Kanhiparcha (കഞ്ഞിപാര്ച്ച) on Seventh day of the pooram (VALIYA AARATTU) is very famous.The kanhiparcha was started by the MOOPPIL NAIR and was example showing the harmony between the Adivasis of Attappadi and the Mooppil Nair.The Song "Markazhiyil Mallika poothaal Mannarkkad Pooram" in the film 'PONNI'is also connected with the pooram festival of this temple.The temple is facing west and situated near the river KUNTHIPUZHA.
The famous MANNARKKAD POORAM is the most important festival of the temple.It falls in the Malayalam month of Kumbham.The pooram purappadu is in the midnight of Makayiram naal in the month of Kumbham.The first two days of pooram is in' Patahadi Mura' and will turn to 'Dhwajadi Mura' from third day onwards with kodiyettam."VALIYA AARATTU" is on the seventh day of the Pooram and ends with Chettivela on the eight day.The Thalappoli of the temple is in the first tuesday of the month Dhanu.Vidyarambham and Nira(നിറ) ,Prathishta Dinam are the other important occassions of the Temple. Aarattu is performed in the month of Kumbham on 6th day and 8th respectievely. Festival
ends with "Chettivela"
