Festival:

The most important festival in this temple is 'Sivarathri Mahotsavam'. Its celebrated in the month 'Kumbham' .Also 'Thiruvathira' in the month 'Dhanu' is a very auspicious celebration here. If the sixth day of every malayalam month is a sunday , then on those sundays, people celebrate 'Aarunjayar'(sixth sunday)ceremony, which is a speciality of this temple.

Importance / Main offerings:

Dhara(pouring of water on idol) and Ksheeradhara(pouring of milk on the idol) are the main offerings here. Also its believed that by chanting the bhajans(prayer songs of Lord Siva) , skin and eye diseases get cured.'Theyyakkolam' is also an important celebration in the month 'Makaram'.

Description:

The presiding deity of this temple is Lord Siva, facing to east.As the name 'Vaidhyanatha', Lord Siva here acts as a 'Vaidhya',which means an ayurveda physician. The temple is situated on the top of a hill. In this temple, the idol is self-incarnated which is called as 'Swayambhoo'. This temple is one of the 108 ancient Siva temples.
Lord Ayyappa, Bhagavathy and Lord Vinayaka are the subdeities in this temple.

Brahmin ladies are not allowed in this temple. Its also believed that the temple is reconstructed by the king of 'Mooshika Vamsam'.
