'Makaravilakku' is the only festival here.

 

Importance / Main offerings:

This place is known as the essential point of 'Sabarimala' temple. 'Makarajyothy' usually appears on the top of this hill.

 

Description:

This place is 15 km away from 'Sabrimala Sannidhanam'. Its a vast area ,with full of grass. There are some trees and one pond. Its really a beautiful place.

Its believed that there was another temple , bulit by Lord Parasurama. There was a pond named 'Seethakkulam'. In ancient times, some people from the hill used to celebrate 'Makara Samkramam' in that temple pond. That celebration is now known as 'Makara Vilakku'.

There is also a belief that 'Makarajyothy' is the star which appears on the sky just above that temple which is alighted by the Goddesses of the forest .
