Festival:
'Pattu'(song) and 'vilakku'(lamp)
in the season of 'Mandalam' has more importance.
Early when the temple was under the control of
'Kollankodu'
king , grand celebration of festival was there
in this temple. Now 'Arattu' is celebrated on the
last week of malayalam month 'Dhanu'. That day
should be the birtday of Lord Ayyappa and never
that of the king's.

Description:
The presiding deity of
this temple is Lord Ayyappa. This temple was
owned by the king of Kollamkodu. The rulers are
also known as 'Venganattu Nambidikal'. The land
was formed by joining eight villages including
Kollangodu. Lord Ayyappa was the favourite deity
of the king.
When
'Samoothiri' won victory over this kingdom and added
Kollamkodu to his kingdom, the temple was forfended
.
In
this temple 'Sastha' resides with 'Poorna' and 'Pushkala'.
The 'Sreekovil' has no roof. Lord 'Vinayaka' and
'Bhagavathy' are the sub deities here. This temple
is also known as 'Cherakulangarakkavu'. The temple
situates on the west side of a pool ,and the deity
faces to the east side. |
